Hanos | Optimal temperature and odor separation through invisible doors

It is much more efficient to turn off the tap than to buy a bigger mop. Based on this conviction, Masterveil, in close cooperation with Prodoor, provides odor and temperature separation in HANOS' new premises in Hengelo. 

Masterveil specializes in air curtains or, as they call it themselves, "the art of invisible doors. With these invisible doors of air, Masterveil creates effective separations between spaces. They not only separate heat and cold, but also keep out dust, odor and insects. "An important advantage of our air curtains is that they contribute to low energy costs," says Managing Director Peter Deweerdt of Masterveil Europe. "Also, our air curtains are constantly evolving. This is partly due to our cooperation with knowledge institutes."

Thinking along in odor and temperature separation
"We were involved in the new building of HANOS Hengelo as early as the engineering phase," continues Deweerdt. "We were given the opportunity to help think about the separation of conditions in the store area and the passages for refrigerated and freezer storage. That role suited us. We adopt an effective working method, first identifying the situation and any underlying problems. Then we look at the specific dimensions of the passageway to be separated and any further customer requirements. In our solutions, whether or not in combination with a partner product, we initially strive for maximum separation. Then we look at whether customization is necessary. For example, do people experience inconvenience from the moving air, then we adjust the air jet."

Pleasant shopping experience
Characteristic of the situation at HANOS Hengelo is the multidisciplinarity. The store area has fairly large conditioned areas including fish, AGF, meat, cheese and wine. Each department has its own dimensions and requirements for temperature, humidity and hygiene. Deweerdt: "An important point of attention for the store area is that certain odors, think of fish, do not spread. In addition, HANOS attaches great importance to a pleasant shopping experience, with spacious, luxurious and well-organized departments. Our AirStop products fit seamlessly with the situation and wishes of HANOS Hengelo. These air curtains provide an invisible separation between the different odor and temperature zones. With this we create ideal product conditions, allowing HANOS to present its products freely."

Optimal separation in freezer cells
In the passages for cold and freezer storage, with serious temperature gradients in places, Masterveil applies the Powerstream product. Deweerdt explains, "Especially in freezer cells, optimal separation is crucial. If this is not the case, you get snow, fog and ice formation, with all its consequences. Think of energy and yield losses, but also of high cleaning costs and product or even injury damage. With this in mind, we developed Powerstream. Characteristic of these air curtains is their small floor area and fully controllable airflow. This makes the end result predictable and the payback time short."

Integral solution
"Our air curtains are often part of an integrated solution," Deweerdt continues. "We offer our customers a toolbox of products and work, with which we address the situation or problem in its totality. In the specific case of HANOS Hengelo, we supply our air curtains in combination with active drying. We also work closely with our partner Prodoor, a specialist in premium door solutions for the food industry. Together we form the perfect match. Nothing is more efficient than visible doors with minimal opening times, combined with our invisible doors. Moreover, Prodoor is in direct connection with our back office, from where we train and support our partners." 

Operational
For Masterveil, the work at HANOS Hengelo is done. Since May 20, the Twente branch has been operational and food professionals can go there for a wide range of products in a clear, inspiring shopping environment.
