Speaking facade for Rembrandt Park One

High-profile facade for Rembrandt Park One

Rembrandt Park One will be the new hotspot in Amsterdam-West. The use of lots of glass, large spans and stylish anodized aluminum cladding give the multi-tenant building an inviting, transparent and luxurious appearance.

On behalf of Dura Vermeer Renovation Midden West BV, Aldowa is providing the engineering, production and assembly of all aluminum cladding. "We will provide the new topping or 'crown' with image-defining facade bands, consisting of canopies, profile cladding and ceilings," says Richard Sliep, project manager at Aldowa. "We also make the roof caps and profile sheeting of the roof structure. The material is norf-quality based because we anodize it." Iconic facade bands were also chosen for the new pavilion, combined with aluminum cassette panels and roof hoods. "Inside, the floor edges of the void are finished with aluminum floor edge cladding. In addition, we supply and install the aluminum canopy elements for the new main entrance. Throughout the project, the cladding will be done in two colors: Alubronze 03 for the profile plates above the canopies and Alubronze 02 for the canopies and profile plates of the roof structure. Anodizing will be done by Alumet."

"In the preparatory phase, we translated the aesthetic details of architect HofmanDujardin into a feasible and doable production and execution design," says Arno Bax, Calculation & Sales at Aldowa. "In doing so, we worked closely with the architect and contractor. Because the desired slope and depth of the profile cladding above the gable bands was not available, we developed a unique solution in-house." An important optimization was also the choice of TopSky attachment points in the curtain wall posts of Lieftink Geveltechniek. "On these we mount our aluminum consoles, with the aluminum canopy and ceiling components over them."

A mock-up of the profile cladding and facade bands was made and evaluated, after which production could start. Aldowa started assembly in week 11. In a lead time of about 16 weeks, all facade elements will be installed. "Major challenges here are especially the planning, just-in-time delivery and working at height using lifting scaffolding," Sliep said. "At the pavilion, we are also working from pontoons in the water. Here we follow the construction contractor's tight planning and routing."
