Installing in the Merwedekanaal zone

Utrecht's Merwedekanaal zone is familiar territory for Van den Pol Elektrotechniek. "Besides Concorde, we have been active in De Nieuwe Defensie (The New Defense) for many years," says Housing Business Unit Leader Bob Oostendorp. Under this name, a new urban district with over 900 homes is being created on a former defense site. "Together with ERA Contour, we have already completed a number of subprojects here. Work is currently in full swing on the next block."

Trusted co-maker

A few kilometers away from The New Defense stands Concorde. In this complex, too, Van den Pol deployed its broad E-services, as a regular co-maker of ERA Contour. "In this we received support from H.Ek from Den Bosch. Under our direction, they provided the facilities for the homes and general
spaces laid out."

Thermal detection

Van den Pol fitted the semi-underground parking garage with bicycle storage with LED lighting and a fire alarm system with LIST sensor wiring. "This thermal detection is less sensitive to failure than conventional systems. That's why clients are increasingly choosing LIST." At the entrance to the parking garage there are six charging stations. "Future expansion has already been taken into account."

PV puzzle

According to Oostendorp, it was quite a puzzle to accommodate the 300-plus PV panels. "These share the roof space with the climate control system and the provision for glass washing on the tower. The green energy generated is mainly used for the general installations and the penthouses in the complex. Because grid congestion limits feed-in, the PV installation is equipped with dynamic control."

Lightning protection is mandatory for buildings from a height of 70 meters. "Concorde's residential tower is lower. Nevertheless, the client chose such an installation as an additional safety feature. We installed it in cooperation with our partner and specialist Mulhuyzen from Utrecht."

Remote monitoring

The maintenance contract allows Van den Pol to remain active in Concorde even after completion. "Both the general facilities, the fire alarm system and the PV system we monitor remotely. This way there is continuous insight into the performance and we only come on site when it is really necessary. Efficient for us and pleasant for the residents."
