Unique paid training program of Schipper Kozijnen and ESPEQ launched

How do we solve the shortage of technicians? A question that also occupies Schipper Kozijnen. The renowned North Holland family business has therefore developed its own unique training program together with construction training provider ESPEQ. Within one year, candidates are prepared for (permanent) employment as assembly workers, with salary paid from day one. 

The background of candidates is of secondary importance, making the track also interesting for people who want to retrain (later in life) and do not want to miss the security of an income in the process.

The genesis

Through various initiatives, plenty of attention is being paid in West Friesland to bringing young people into contact with technology in the broadest sense. Schipper Kozijnen looks at this with admiration, but also wonders what they themselves can do to enthuse people in the region about technology, especially other target groups. Think of (young) adults without a technical background who are considering a career switch.

Learning and assembly

After application, the training program will start Jan. 10, 2022 with a 2-week period at ESPEQ to then start working as an assembly worker. Every 2 weeks the aspiring mechanics will return to ESPEQ to be prepared for (permanent) employment with Schipper Kozijnen. At ESPEQ a lot of attention is paid to working safely and the use of tools and materials. At Schipper Kozijnen the candidates immediately go along to the customer and learn the tricks of the trade from specialized fitters. This way the theory can immediately be applied in practice.

ESPEQ is used to developing similar training programs for the construction industry, but a suitable solution for Schipper Kozijnen was not yet available. By joining forces, a customized solution was created. 

Own training center

Schipper Frames continues to grow. The arrival of a new headquarters with distribution center has freed up space in the nostalgic farmhouse on the property in Opmeer. Here we are currently working hard on our own training center. With various lifelike setups of window frames, doors, sliding doors and dormers, practice is simulated. An ideal internal learning environment for mastering Schipper's certified assembly method, among other things.
