Platform on new construction, renovation, restoration and transformation
Duco inspires, innovates and ... invests. Since the company was founded in 1991, the ventilation and sun protection specialist has been doing well. Both sales and the number of employees are rising continuously. The consequences are obvious, because in order to accommodate the staff, there is an urgent need to expand the existing infrastructure.
A new office complex is a logical step. The company site with a total area of 101,000 sq. ft. is nearly full. Indeed, in four years, sales increased by 111 % and the company recruited 123 additional workers. Moreover, a new logistics center was recently built, which also included the arrival of a new fully automated powder coating plant. The existing solar panel park was also doubled to 6,015 panels, making the entire site energy-neutral in terms of electricity needs. All this was the precursor to the large-scale expansion of the company infrastructure with a state-of-the-art office complex, representing a total area of 7,500 m² of office space, which began last summer.
In addition to an eye for aesthetics and sleek architecture, the new office complex will be equipped with the latest sustainable technologies that ensure an energy-neutral building. For example, an ingenious system of geothermal energy with concrete core activation will be used for heating and cooling. This, together with a smart system of demand-controlled natural ventilation and intensive night ventilation, ensures a pleasant and, above all, healthy working climate. An absolute eye-catcher for the facade is the structural exterior sun blinds with rectangular design slats that ensure an optimal working climate and maximum daylight penetration, so that overheating during the hot summer months does not stand a chance.
With the new office complex, the Belgian ventilation specialist can therefore immediately make a showcase for sustainable ventilation in combination with architectural shading. Or how to create a healthy indoor climate for all employees naturally, without using energy-consuming air conditioning. 'Health first,' a part of the company mission that also extends to the new offices, where, in addition to ergonomic office spaces and meeting rooms, there is also room for a gym.
One thing is certain: the new office complex along the E40 motorway in Veurne will soon be built. In 2021, Duco hopes to celebrate his 30th anniversary in the brand new building. Definitely something to look forward to.
