In residential building 1828 Gouda, Van den Pol Elektrotechniek is responsible for the E-installation, access control, videophone and lighting in the common areas. Charging facilities for electric bicycles will also be installed by Van den Pol. There will be a total of 247 apartments.
"We were involved early on in the process," says Business Unithousing construction leader Bob Oostendorp, together with project leader Hans Klapwijk responsible for 1828. "It is the first residential building according to this concept for client Wibaut. The engineering was carried out in close consultation; the requirements and wishes of the project developer were the basis for the installation design." With such an approach, Van den Pol feels like a fish out of water. "There is plenty of room for our knowledge and experience. That comes the end result
always for the better."
With builder De Vries en Verburg, Van den Pol encounters a trusted party in Gouda. "Over the years, we have already carried out many projects together, such as recently, for example, the new building for Logistics and Environment at TU Delft. We are also realizing all the E-installations in Parel in de Polder, an expansion of De Vries en Verburg's own office in Stolwijk. I myself am currently working with De Vries en Verburg on the third sub-project of Amandelhof, a complex for elderly care in Capelle aan den IJssel. The fact that you know each other's working methods well also proves to be an advantage at 1828."
Van den Pol has extensive experience with inner-city projects such as 1828. "These are often logistically complex, partly because of the limited space on the construction site. But even though this Gouda complex is also being built in the city center, right by the railroad tracks; here, fortunately, there is plenty of space."
1828 is intended for young people starting out in the housing market as tenants. "There will be numerous facilities that will make them feel at home," Oostendorp knows. "For example, a wireless videophone system without a fixed screen has been chosen in the homes. Calls go to residents' smartphones. This solution does not lend itself to every complex, but it is certainly a hit for the target group of 1828."
