Within walking distance of Utrecht Leidsche Rijn shopping center and train station, a special housing project is under construction. BUUR includes the realization of three residential complexes with a total of 454 apartments; 314 for social rent and 140 for medium rent. On the first floor, in line with the shopping street, there will be (retail) spaces for artisanal entrepreneurs.
BUUR is a development by housing corporation Wonam and housing corporations Mitros and Portaal. ERA Contour is responsible for the construction of the residential buildings. On behalf of this contractor, Leviat supplied the masonry supports for this. ERA Contour and Leviat can fall back on a long relationship, says Thijs Doornhegge, Senior Project Engineer Facade at Leviat. "In this project, too, we were involved at an early stage to help think about the supports (facade supports), lintels and concrete ties for the masonry facades."
Challenge was the enormity of the work, he says. "But also the multitude of architectural details. For example, regarding cavity dimensions, lowering dimensions and floor thicknesses. There are a total of 82 details in this project, as well as a large number of sub-details that required many system types. In close cooperation with ERA Contour, we worked out a smart, good and easily workable system package for this, based on the Halfen FK5 system. The residential buildings included the Halfen FK5-G, FK5-GH, FK5-GV, among others, in a variety of colors. But also various KW types and some specials. During product selection, we expressly took into account the applicable requirements and quality marks, such as KOMO, so that strength, rigidity and stability are guaranteed."
All products were delivered to the project site in Utrecht in carefully coordinated partial deliveries, Doornhegge says. Including clear and unambiguous processing instructions. "This allowed not only faster and safer, but also stronger and more sustainable construction. Moreover, the delivery quality is raised to the highest level." Just after the 2022 construction period, the final masonry supports were ordered
and delivered.
From ground-level housing to high-rise projects and from masonry support to concrete and precast construction, Leviat advises, models and supplies innovative lifting, connection and anchoring solutions that enable contractors and concrete manufacturers to build faster, safer, stronger and more sustainable. "By thinking along in terms of technology and assembly from an early stage, clients are completely unburdened," Doornhegge concludes. "BUUR is a nice calling card for this."
