Wonderwoods' residential towers will feature exuberant plantings. In total, as much as an acre of greenery will grow on the facades, balconies and rooftop parks, creating a unique piece of National Park in the city. In order to properly and safely maintain the approximately 360 trees and 10,000 plants, various (fall) safety solutions from Eurosafe Solutions have been applied.
Eurosafe Solutions has been the specialist in safe working at heights and confined spaces for 23 years. "To guarantee the best solutions for each project, we like to work together integrally in construction teams and with regular partners," says Jan Kwanten, Manager Sales at Eurosafe Solutions. "From design to operation. Wonderwoods perfectly matches this ambition. We have already been approached in 2019 by developer G&S& Vastgoed, to work out a safe and efficient (fall) safety solution in an integral collaboration with the architect, the contractor combination as well as the company that installs and maintains the greenery."
In Wonderwoods, not all facade sections are easily accessible with a facade maintenance system, says Kwanten. "Instead, building-related facilities were chosen. We held discussions with all relevant stakeholders. Then, using our Safety Circle® proposition, we prepared a risk assessment of the roofs and facades." Characteristic of Safety Circle® is that risks, liabilities and Total Costs of Ownership are minimized, while efficiency, safety and appearance are raised to the highest level. "An important part of the proposition is an access strategy, on the basis of which the green party will soon be able to carry out its periodic maintenance in an efficient and safe manner."
The facades and roofs are equipped with various (fall) safety solutions. For example, Eurosafe Solutions installed special sockets on the connecting bridge between the Boeri and MVSA towers and in the flower boxes, in which mobile davit arms can be placed. "Our Porta Davit Quantum davit arms are suitable for rope access as well as for lifting loads," says Kwanten. "This allows the landscapers to safely perform their green space maintenance on a leash. Moreover, they can deposit all green waste directly into special big bags, which sink with them on a separate line." A rail system was also installed under the connecting bridge for rope access green maintenance. In addition, a rail system has been installed on the atrium roof of the MVSA Tower, which provides for safely leashed periodic glass washing. "On top of the flat roofs will be our fall protection systems, so that people can work safely here as well," he said.
