Anyone who thinks drywall is only suitable for straightforward indoor solutions is wrong. Siniat shows that much more is possible than you might think. The company offers exterior solutions, acoustic boards, grouts and facade cement boards. Siniat's products are constantly being developed and new materials are also coming to market this fall.
Part of Etex Building Performance, Siniat develops and manufactures drywall, fiber cement boards and grouts that finish buildings warm, dry, quiet and safe. This takes into account moisture, fire safety, acoustics and impact resistance. Two pillars are paramount at the company: innovation and sustainability. "Apart from the fact that we have a standard offering, we are strongly engaged in our technical expertise. Among other things, we have a research center for everything with plaster in France," says product manager Toon Plompen.
A great example of that innovative slant is moisture- and mold-resistant drywall. Gypsum and moisture don't mix well. That's why you don't often see drywall used outdoors. With the Weather Defense drywall, however, this is possible. For bathrooms, the Hydro is suitable and if you have very damp areas in the home, there is the WAB (wet area board). This gives architects the freedom to design all spaces with flat or curved surfaces that can be finished perfectly. Plompen: "We work a lot with architects for technical and aesthetic advice. In addition, our products offer various possibilities. For example, we have Createx acoustic ceiling panels with square and round perforations, with straight and random patterns. We like to think along with you about the design and acoustic requirements."
If there are technical questions that require more attention, they come to the technical department, where Nicolas Huysmans works. He is Siniat technical expert. "We think along with aspects such as fire resistance and acoustic values and offer support beyond that where necessary," he says. "We also figure out how to ensure that our systems always comply with legislation. The focus is on modular construction, wood frame construction and steel frame construction. Fire resistance must also be completely in order."
By focusing on modular construction, Siniat takes the environment directly into account. An aspect that gets a lot of attention within the company, says Plompen. "We have set goals toward 2030. For example, we have embraced the UN Global Compact by committing to 10 of the 17 sustainable development goals. We have also written our own goals, such as reducing the carbon footprint of our products and recycling water. In addition, we have solar panels and a CHP. Gypsum is one of the most sustainable building materials. It can be 100% reused. All the gypsum waste we can use again in production. We also cooperate with gypsum recycling Benelux and GipsRec.nl, among others."
While drywall is fully recyclable, packaging material is usually not. Siniat does strive for 100% recyclable packaging and 20% less packaging material. The other products in Siniat's range also take reuse into account. Early next year, for example, a completely new range of grouts will be launched on the market using largely recycled plastic packaging. "For this we have done a complete market study. We remain committed to innovations and sustainability," said Plompen.
