WEBO expands Fireproof® range: even more configurations with mandatory CE marking in accordance with EN 16034

The scope of the Refractory®-assortment of WEBO has been further expanded. Through additional testing and accredited reporting, multiple configurations of the BEM and NOM frame fireproof® now more widely applicable within construction projects that must meet stringent European fire and smoke requirements.

Broad configuration options

Configurations such as Tilt&Turn windows, exterior turning windows, inward and outward opening doors, and combinations with top and side screens are supplied with the mandatory CE marking in accordance with EN 16034. This extension makes it possible to use a pre-tested system that complies with both European standards and the Besluit bouwwerken leefomgeving (Bbl) (Decree on Building Works for the Environment) for projects with increased fire safety requirements, such as blocks of flats, educational buildings, care institutions and utility buildings.

Outcome for contractors and construction professionals

For contractors and building professionals, this offers an important solution because it is one complete tested system, including combinations with top and side lights. Many contractors are unaware that deviating from such a system - for example, by assembling their own glass, hardware, pushers or frame combinations - is not permitted. This leads to the cancellation of the mandatory CE marking, with the result that the element can be rejected during testing.

Early certification as a basis

WEBO in 2019 became the first in the Netherlands to achieve CE certification for fire-resistant wooden exterior window frames according to EN 16034. This was followed in 2023 by the official launch of the Fireproof®-range, with the WoodAlu-Frame Fireproof® as the first product. Later, the BENG Frame® and NOM Frame® added, focusing on the combination of fire safety and energy performance.

With the latest additions, the scope of application has now been significantly expanded. All systems are supplied with performance declarations (DoPs) per configuration and are tested for fire and smoke resistance in accordance with EN 13501-2, in combination with the basic EN 14351-1 standard.

One integral system

WEBO is as yet the only producer in the Netherlands with CE-marked fire-resistant exterior window frames in wood and wood-aluminum. Building professionals thus have a single integrated system with which the required performance can be demonstrated in advance within the assessment framework of the Building Quality Assurance Act (Wkb).

Brochure and documentation

The new Refractory®-brochure contains an overview of all tested configurations, their corresponding classifications and their application possibilities within the Bbl. It is available to designers, job planners and contractors working on projects with increased performance requirements.
