The entire steel structure of the extensive work for DSV 5 at Greenport Venlo was provided by Reijrink Staalconstructie. The core work to assemble the double-deck warehouse was carried out between week 5 and week 30 of 2023. "We will be almost finished by the end of the summer," says project manager Nico van Drunen of Reijrink bv.
DSV 5 will be delivered and commissioned in parts this year, including a cross-dock and offices, so the construction site moved around each time. "The project was challenging in that a lot of Willems bracing - extra stability bracing - was incorporated into the structure in the first layer, in connection with the double-deck construction," Van Drunen says.
For the Brabant-based construction company, the sustainable project's BREEAM 'Excellent' qualification (according to the latest assessment guideline) means, among other things, using certified steel procurement and documenting CO2 emissions from transport and assembly. "The first we do anyway, the second means some extra burden of proof," he says.
