Starting in 2025, the government wants to make solar panels mandatory on new buildings. These are buildings with a roof whose area exceeds 250 m2. These are work-related buildings including: stores, factories and other businesses (NOS, 2022). These developments allow Derbigum to raise its profile with the No Roof To Waste concept, which stands for sustainability and circularity of flat roofs.
Derbigum offers a wide range of sustainable roofing products. By recycling old roofing material from demolition roofs, cutting residues and production leftovers, new products are produced, including the Derbigum NT and the Derbicoat NT.
Solar panels and sustainable roofing has a common goal of reducing Co2 emissions! Also, solar panels can be recycled after a long lifetime to make new solar panels. In this way, both Derbigum's sustainable roofing and solar panels are recyclable.
The Derbicoat NT with application of recycled bitumen is a strong undercoat with its combined inlay. The Derbicolor FR White as a top layer has a proven durability of more than 40 years. The roofing membrane finished with white shingle reflects sunlight and absorbs little heat, creating a cooling effect.
"A cooler roof has a positive effect for the solar panels. A solar panel functions better with a lower temperature than in extreme heat" said John Poppelaars, Director Derbigum Netherlands.
Sustainable results are created together. So the solution between solar panels and sustainable roofing is very obvious.
