Platform on new construction, renovation, restoration and transformation
In the renovation and reconstruction of the Christelijk Lyceum in Zeist, Jonkers Stalen Kozijnen supplies and assembles the profiled steel frames, windows and doors. The kit work and finishing are also in the hands of the Jonkers team. The school is being tackled in phases, in an existing situation that requires constant measuring and adjustment. That is precisely where the core of the work lies, according to Maarten Jonkers.
Jonkers sees a clear difference between renovation and new construction when it comes to steel window frames. “In new construction projects, you can fix a lot in advance. In renovation, you have to keep measuring and adjusting.” According to him, existing recesses are not always straight, so each element requires customization. And internal transport also plays into renovation. “You're working with existing corridors and small doorways, you have to adjust your logistics to that.” The choice of profile itself is also tailored to appearance and performance. “When renovating, you often want a slimmer profile that matches what was previously used in the building. At the same time, you have to meet fire-resistant requirements.”
Cooperation with Groothuis Bouwgroep began as early as the first phase of the project, which has now been completed. The second phase is in full swing. Jonkers: “We make a difference thanks to our project organization. We say what we do and do what we say.” Because the window frames often come as the final piece on the schedule, Jonkers“ team stays sharp even when the construction schedule shifts. Jonkers: ”Keeping up when others are running late and making adjustments where necessary is just part of the job for us."
