From the lighting to the intercom and access control system to the fire safety provisions: for the electrical installations in De Frontier in Deventer, VDK colleagues HulstFlier and Keizers Totaal Installateur sought each other out. The middle and most striking building of De Kop Handelskade provides space for 43 luxury apartments and penthouses, which will be finished exactly according to residents' wishes.
The shell construction of The Frontier is now complete, says Berry Fidder, project manager at Keizers Totaal Installateur. “Right now we are busy with the finishing touches, closely following the high construction pace of Nijhuis Bouw Rijssen. Following the light and power installations in the homes and general areas, we are realizing various charging points for electric bicycles. We are also installing and programming an advanced intercom and access control system. Effectively keeping unauthorized persons out of the building increases (the feeling of) security. And the fire alarm system also makes an important contribution to resident safety.”
Among other things, the fire alarm system is linked to the free-running door closers, says Fidder. “In case of fire or smoke, the doors that are normally open are automatically closed. This creates effective compartmentalization.” The fire alarm system also controls the fire dampers in the ventilation ducts. “As a result, the fire-resistant walls and floors retain their function in the event of a fire and residents can safely escape via either stairwell.”
To make their new home completely to their liking, all buyers were allowed to submit specific buyer requirements. “Where some residents only wanted to move an electrical outlet or lighting point, others sent in completely new installation plans,” Fidder says. “Most special here are the two apartments on the 14th floor, which have been combined into one spacious home. Here we realize and program a comprehensive Smart Home system from ABB, which allows residents to automatically control their lighting, window coverings and blinds, among other things. By working with zone controls, the system can easily be split up in the future so that the floor can be sold as either one or two apartments.”
