From lighting to climate and security: Many technical specials for new construction KAVO B.V.

In early July, KAVO B.V.'s new commercial building was successfully delivered to its owner. The new building consists of 10,000 square meters of commercial space, including 1,080 square meters of offices and 1,000 square meters of mezzanine. The remaining square meters serve as a warehouse and accommodate more than 25,000 pallet spaces. Commissioned by Aan de Stegge Twello, Batenburg Installatietechniek realized the complete installation package for the new building. From the climate and sanitary installations to the data installation, electrical installation, control technology and security installation. "Our security installation includes security cameras, burglary protection and access control," explains project manager Frank Oostewechel. "In addition, we equipped the building with five double charging stations. Batenburg Energietechniek supplied a 630 KVA transformer station with low-voltage racks, which supplies the building with energy."

A great example of the "specials" are the Hunter Douglas ceilings in the offices, which incorporate custom LED fixtures and ventilation grilles.

Turnkey new construction in 40 weeks

KAVO B.V. is a supplier of car parts for electric cars, Asian cars and supplies shock absorbers for all car makes. To accommodate the company's rapid growth and to further optimize its logistics processes, a lot was purchased at Apeldoorn Noord II business park. Here, a turnkey new building was completed in just 40 weeks. "In a construction team with the main contractor and other relevant stakeholders, we provided the consultancy, 3D/Revit design and engineering for all mechanical and electrical installations," Oostewechel says. "In addition, we were responsible for the complete realization, in which we did not act overnight. The new building for KAVO B.V. contains many technical specials, which required careful coordination. We put a lot of time into the design and engineering phase and carried out regular clash checks, which enabled us to install almost clash-free."

Custom solutions

As an example of these "specials," Oostewechel cites the Hunter Douglas ceilings in the offices, which incorporate custom LED fixtures and ventilation grilles. "The LED fixtures are DALI-controlled," he says. "Movement and presence sensors also ensure that no unnecessary lighting is lit anywhere. In this way, we are also in line with the client's sustainability ambition." The entire building functions gas-free. "An air/water heat pump provides heating and cooling for the warehouse, with an underfloor heating system serving as the delivery system. In contrast, a Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) air-to-air heat pump system was chosen for the offices, which allows each room to be individually heated or cooled. A 6,500 m3/h air handling unit on the roof of the new building provides the fresh air supply, with a cross-flow exchanger providing efficient heat recovery. We also installed a high-quality security system with remote-controlled Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) cameras, which also provides security in and around the new building.
