At Buitenhavenweg in Lelystad, JYSK is building a 147,000 m2 distribution center. The complex will have a highly automated warehouse with a 44-meter high bay racking system. For fire safety and access control, family company Teckentrup is supplying some 120 steel doors.
Teckentrup is a German family-owned company, with a sister company in the Netherlands, that has been manufacturing industrial doors for more than ninety years. The company's products include fire-resistant and burglar-resistant steel doors. For JYSK's distribution center, Teckentrup was engaged through Vrolijk, partner of main contractor Willy Naessens Netherlands. In total, the company supplies about 120 doors with different properties.
The doors for the distribution center had to meet high requirements. “For example, the EI2 120 fire resistance requirement,” said Van Dijk. “In addition, they are equipped with specific hardware to meet a variety of access requirements.” Many doors have motor locks, freewheeling closers and electronic devices on them. That has to connect well with the E-installer's installations. “A lot of attention goes to that in the work preparation.”
Despite the large number of doors and high demands, the installation is going well, according to Van Dijk. “As a group, we have put together a great project and installed 120 doors in a short period of time, all of which function well and contribute to the fire safety of this building. We should be proud of that.”
