A new residential tower has sprung up in the heart of Nieuwegein. A stone's throw from the City Plaza shopping center, Point of View is a residential tower with 48 condominiums and an underground parking garage. The very deliberately chosen dark brick façade, in combination with the wooden accents, makes Point of View a true point of interest in the Nieuwegein landscape.
Klunder Architects had a clear goal in mind with this project. "Because of the unique location of the project, we wanted to make the residential tower a real eye-catcher," begins Sjoerd Berghuis, architect of the plan. "The local residents were not immediately enthusiastic about the project, as they feared losing the adjacent green space. So for us it was important to present a vision that was unique, but also respected the uniqueness of the neighborhood. Three office buildings had to make way for the new tower. We stacked those office volumes and arranged the parking underground. This allows the surrounding area to be designed as a park."
The Herenstraat in Nieuwegein is not exactly the quietest neighborhood. A noise calculation by Buro Bouwfysica quickly revealed that this was a location with considerable noise production. "A solution had to be found for ventilation without causing noise pollution. Because of the noise load on the facades, no parts that could be opened were allowed to be made," Berghuis continues. "We sat down with DUCO and Buro Bouwfysica to see what solutions were possible, and that's where the Duco Acoustic Panel came out."
The Duco Acoustic Panel is a sound attenuating recessed wall grille. It is always custom-made and is equipped with sound-absorbing, non-flammable mineral wool. It provides acoustic attenuation of up to 17 dB. An ideal choice, therefore, to ensure the comfort of the residents in this residential tower.
Klunder Architects and DUCO then continued consultations. Naturally, the products had to match the character of the building as closely as possible. Format, color and finish were all discussed in detail. "The cooperation with all partners went well and in harmony," Berghuis concludes. "We are very proud of the final result!"
DUCO can only underscore this observation. "Nieuwegein has added a beautiful building, thanks to all cooperating parties. We are proud that our products were able to contribute to that story."
