From chicken shed to well-known name in the installation world

For sixty years, Paans Installatiebedrijven has been committed to providing reliable and efficient installation solutions. We talk to commercial director Leonard Paans and sales manager Marieke Blijenburg. They tell us how the family business grew from a modest fitter into a modern total installer with great ambitions for the future.

Paans Installatiebedrijven began in 1964 in a chicken shed in Werkendam. Here, brothers Leen, Wim and Teus Paans laid the foundation for what grew into a leader in the installation business. "My father went out with a cargo bike to replace coal boilers with oil boilers," Leonard Paans says. In 1976, the company expanded to Leerdam and a lot has changed since then. Today, Paans Installatiebedrijven has about 130 employees, a completely new office and warehouse and a management team that is ready for the next step.

A sustainable transformation in Rijswijk 

Paans Installatiebedrijven has now proven itself as an expert in the field of installation technology. This was demonstrated, for example, in the transformation of an office building into a residential complex with almost two hundred apartments in Rijswijk. A large-scale project in which Paans played an important role. The installation company provided the apartments with a technical, thick-walled installation that ensures that the apartments are not only heated but also cooled. The innovative approach ensures that the apartments meet today's energy requirements. "This project was a great opportunity for us to show what we have to offer," says Paans. "This is a great example of a large project, which is becoming more commonplace for us."

Growth in every part of the organization

Paans and Blijenburg look back on the past few years with pride. "We've had so many highlights," says Paans. "From moving to our new premises in Meerkerk to working with great clients and winning the OnderNamen entrepreneur award." But it hasn't always been easy. Setting the course during the corona period and a period of technical staff shortages was sometimes a challenge. Still, Paans keeps looking ahead: "We want to grow in every part of our organization," he says. "That means investing in sustainability, safety and knowledge. We are a total installer and we want to continue to develop in that role."

Pride and ambition

In 2024, Paans Installation Companies will exist 60 years. "The responsibility and opportunities we are given motivate us every day," Paans says. This motivation to keep going is in the nature of the company. "Our 60th anniversary is not only a moment of looking back, but also an opportunity to look forward. We have achieved a lot," says Blijenburg. "We want to keep innovating, both with our products and in our role as a total installer." In the coming years, Paans Installatiebedrijven will continue to build on its name. "Sustainability and innovation are high on the agenda," says Paans. "We are looking at new ways to help our customers. The future offers many opportunities, and with our fantastic team we are confident that we will seize them."

With a clear vision, a sound strategy and a team that is always ready to serve the customer, Paans Installatiebedrijven is ready for the future. Blijenburg concludes, "It feels good to be part of a company that has such a strong history, but at the same time is open to innovation and growth."
