Sustainable renovation is desperately needed! The Climate Agreement stipulates that seven million homes and one million other buildings must be rid of natural gas by 2050. To achieve this, it is necessary to insulate cavity walls, roofs and floors, for example. It is also often wise to replace glass, knows Ferrie van Heusden, director of Alhra Glas. "By replacing single or old double glazing, for example, with HR++ glass, triple glass or vacuum glass, building owners can save substantially on their energy bills. Moreover, by doing so, they contribute to a better environment as well as a healthier living environment!"
Glass specialist Alhra Glas, part of the Alhra Group, supplies and installs glass for a wide variety of applications. From single glass, insulation glass, laminated glass and tempered glass to mirrors, curved glass, stained glass and fire-resistant glass. "We excel at renovation projects and will stop at nothing," Van Heusden says. "Whether it involves making existing homes more sustainable or transforming obsolete office buildings into residential buildings, it is always advisable to investigate the possibilities of glass replacement. As a glass specialist, we are happy to sit down at an early project stage to discuss options and returns. In an inspection report, we also map out the existing situation. We check whether the rotating parts in the existing frames are suitable for newer (and heavier) types of glass or whether modifications or replacement are necessary. We then provide tailored advice based on both the expected building residual life and the budget."
Once approved, Alhra Glas guarantees the complete delivery and replacement of the glass, including any additional work. "Within the larger projects, our experienced glaziers work closely with the contractor, plumber and roofer to keep the renovation train running smoothly," says Van Heusden. "We carefully remove all the old glass and offer it for recycling. In doing so, we make an important contribution to reducing waste." Cleaning the rebates is a matter of course. "If necessary, we adjust the rebates. The newly installed glazing bars bear the FSC seal of approval and are made from wood from sustainably managed forests. After completion, we deliver the work neatly and cleanly to the client, who is assured of a high-quality, durable and crystal-clear end result."
