"We are strong in complete frame-door combinations for (care) apartments, student housing, hotels, cinemas and theaters, where specific requirements apply with regard to sound insulation (≤ 57dB), fire resistance (≤ 90 minutes) and burglar resistance," says Arno de Haan. "The Westag doors with HPL are highly impact-resistant, color- and scratch-resistant and possibly also fingerprint-resistant. For more luxurious projects, we also offer an extensive range of doors with real wood veneer. All doors and frames are delivered to the project completely ready to fit, including hinges and locks and in accordance with the requested certificates."
For loft houses without a hall, where sound enters the house directly from the central hall or corridor, Westag offers the total solution GarandB premium. "This solution includes a soundproof SK42-71 interior door and frame that as a whole provide a 0 dB requirement," said De Haan. "We also produce and supply various fire-resistant doors with a fire retardancy of 30, 60 or 90 minutes, in which all the fire-resistant features are built in ánd behind the edge slats. With these doors, the fire-resistant strips in the frame are omitted. In addition, the doors can be planed without problems, without compromising fire resistance."
While most door and window frame manufacturers in the Netherlands supply hardwood or steel frames, Westag has added a third, sustainable and unique option to its selection program: the so-called HZ frame. "We can supply window frames with the same or rather a different HPL or veneer finish as the door," said De Haan. "Moreover, this frame is wall-encompassing, regardless of the thickness of the wall. Thanks to our HZ frames, the ends of the wall no longer need to be plastered, painted or trimmed, which saves money. The frame can also be installed at a very late project stage. Milling and sawing are not an issue. Combined with the high-quality aesthetics, this product is enjoyed by architects, contractors and finishers alike."
Westag's HZ window frames and HPL doors have been installed in the more than 400 hotel rooms of 4-star Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam, among others. "The same HPL was additionally applied to the entrance doors and folding walls of the meeting/party rooms," adds De Haan. "In addition, the doors are fitted with recessed door closers, which carries through the high-quality look of the hotel down to the smallest details." For residential building Pontsteiger in Amsterdam's Houthavens, Westag produced and supplied premium veneered doors for the 66 luxury owner-occupied apartments on the top eight floors. However, it's not just luxury that rings the bell, De Haan emphasizes. "Our range also includes a wide range of basic and 'hufterproof' door solutions for student residences, for example. The Polaris building in Groningen with 207 high-rise and low-rise apartments is an illustrative example of this."
For environments where hygiene plays an essential role and/or there is a high frequency of visitors or activity, Westag supplies interior doors with GetaLit HPL; an HPL that comes standard with an antibacterial top coat. "Thanks to the addition of silver ions in the top layer, bacteria are blocked from functioning, after which they will die off. Within 24 hours, the number of bacteria is even reduced by 99.9%!"
All interior doors and frames are produced in the Westag factory in Germany, where the standard for interior doors and frames is considerably higher than in the Netherlands. For example, with regard to stability and finishing. As a result, customers and end users are assured of a technically and aesthetically high-quality product at all times.
