Intelligent solutions for connecting building components

Schöck is the specialist in high-quality connection components for structural, static and constructional applications. From thermal and sound insulation to anchoring and reinforcement technology. Very popular in the range are the rods made of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP), which combine a number of unique properties.

"Fiberglass-reinforced plastic is corrosion-free, non-magnetic, easily machinable and not electrically conductive," says Michiel Rietveld, Internatio-nal Account Manager Isolink® & Combar® at Schöck Nederland b.v. "On top of that, the material has a high tensile strength of >1,000 N/mm² and a very low thermal conductivity of 0.7 W/mK. Fiberglass-reinforced plastic is 3.5 times lighter than steel, which allows great project benefits to be achieved." To permanently meet the high market demand, Schöck's fiberglass composite rods have been produced at the new plant in Halle (DE) since 2020.

In the Porseleinen Hof project in Delft, the rear construction of the ceramic facades was anchored cold-bridge-free with the Schöck Isolink® F system.

Leaner and cleaner

Schöck's fiberglass composite rods are used as reinforcement (Combar®), sandwich anchoring (Isolink® C) and facade anchoring (Isolink® F). "Thanks to the low thermal conductivity of Isolink® a facade can be realized up to 50% slimmer," Rietveld emphasizes. "Without loss of insulation values. The application results in high-quality insulated walls that are not only extremely thin, but also significantly cleaner for our environment. Studies have now shown that as much as 15-25% CO2 can be saved by the application of this material."

Thermally and structurally connected

By 2023, the Isolink® sandwich and facade anchors in several prominent projects. As an example, Rietveld mentions the Porseleinen Hof project in Delft, designed by Orange architects, where the rear construction of the ceramic facades is anchored cold-bridge-free with the Schöck Isolink® F system. "Also impressive is Overhoeks building De Jakoba in Amsterdam, for which we used our Isolink® C sandwich anchoring provided. In addition, our fiberglass composite rods were used to connect the special aesthetic elements to the rear structure. In doing so, both projects perfectly align with our motto, which is that with our innovative connections, every project is connected both thermally and structurally at the highest level."
