From curtain walls to frames, doors, folding walls and sliding doors, Aluvo has been the expert in facade technologies for almost half a century. "As an aluminum facade and frame specialist, we have the engineering, production and assembly of facade elements completely in our own hands," explains project leader Klaas Mulder. "This allows us to guarantee optimum appearance, manufacturability and technical performance. From our production sites in Nieuwleusen and Apeldoorn, approximately 65 professionals work daily on high-quality new construction and renovation projects. Thanks to their skill, a keen eye and the right materials, we are the ideal partner for many construction companies, architects and property developers."
The facade not only determines the appearance of a building, it also determines its identity as well as the comfort of its users. "Both aspects come into their own best when Aluvo is involved in projects from an early stage," Mulder emphasizes. "On the basis of aesthetic design, thermal insulation values (Rc and U values), building physics properties (shading, daylight penetration and sound insulation) and security aspects (burglary and fire resistance), we select the most appropriate profile systems. In 3D/BIM, we also translate all wishes and requirements into a feasible and makeable design, which is optimized in close cooperation with the architect and client and can then be integrated into the building design."
Aluvo works primarily with the renowned profile systems from Schüco and Kawneer, explains Mulder. "To ensure optimum insulation values, comfort and energy efficiency, these systems are increasingly being combined with HR++ and triple (triple) glass. In addition, we often work with extra-insulated profiles and plastic glass frames, which effectively overcome thermal bridges." Aluvo is ISO 14001-certified. "This means that we control environmental risks well and prevent them wherever possible. In our projects we expressly take into account BREEAM-NL credit MAT-5 for curtain walls, window frames and glazing. Important in this context is, for example, the sustainable surface treatment of our systems, which combines high-quality aesthetics and a long service life. At the end of their service life, our aluminum products and materials are sustainably recycled so that the raw materials retain their value. In order to have the right and sufficient raw materials on time, we make clear supplier agreements."
Anno 2021 Aluvo is experiencing substantial growth. "Our turnover has almost doubled in recent years," Mulder said. "In order to also be able to carry out projects quickly and well in the future, a considerable amount of automation is currently taking place. In our production location in Nieuwleusen, a second CNC machine was recently installed, with which we can machine profiles up to 7 meters in length. And also in Apeldoorn we recently installed a CNC machine. In order to increase production even further, we also want to expand our existing locations. The plans for this are currently being worked out."
Aluvo's assignment portfolio consists of a healthy mix of new construction and renovation projects. "From luxury homes to large-scale apartment complexes, offices, commercial buildings and schools: we don't turn our hand to anything," Mulder emphasizes. "Beautiful reference projects include the new building for Dimensio Verpakkingen in Almere, the Van der Valk hotel in Deventer and the Albert Heijn XXL in Kampen."
Aluvo is currently involved in the Max & Moore redevelopment project in Amsterdam Buiksloterham. "Commissioned by Pleijsier Bouw, we are supplying the aluminum curtain walls and window frames for both office buildings, with floor areas of 7,000 and 2,800 m² respectively. The window frames are almost completely incorporated into the facades. Another special feature of Moore is that untreated aluminum was chosen for the exterior of the window frames, creating a rough and robust facade appearance. The parts that will be coated will receive a textured paint." A green look was chosen for Max's facades, Mulder says. "Special green colored glass in these facades fits in perfectly with this." Notable in the office buildings are the extreme window sizes of up to 2×2 meters. "To ensure optimal operability of these large and heavy windows, special turning mechanisms with spindles have been applied." Inside, on the first and second floors of both office buildings, fire-resistant curtain walls from Aluvo are being installed.
