Craftsmen with an eye for the future

Not for nothing has the Rotterdam-based company been known as the specialist in exterior wall insulation for almost twenty years. In addition, IJsselmonde provides scaffolding, minor construction work and cavity anchor renovation. 

IJsselmonde has existed since 2002, but the company contains countless years of knowledge and experience. For example, the founders, Bas Boere and Ad van Raam, have been active in the industry since the 1980s. Fellow partner Jacco Oostenbrug, who joined the company in 2015, has been with the company for thirty years. And even the new generation, future partner Kevin Boere, has already had eleven years in the business. "Together, we account for two million square feet of exterior wall insulation," says Bas Boere. "That amounts to about 80,000 homes!"

A deal is a deal

Quality has prevailed at IJsselmonde since its inception. Or, as Bas Boere puts it, "It just has to be neat. We are very strict about that." Oostenbrug adds, "Quality is also: a deal is a deal. What we promise on the front end of a project, we deliver in execution. We expect our people not only to do excellent work, but also to be flexible and representative. On the other hand, we cherish our people. We form a close-knit team."

Everything digital

The fact that IJsselmonde sticks to traditional values does not take away from its continuous innovation and improvement. "We have been working digitally for ten years," says Bas Boere. "From the first quote, a project goes into the system and everything is arranged and controlled from there. Our people outside all have iPads." Oostenbrug: "The beauty of this way of working is that everyone always has all the latest information. That works more effectively and reduces the chance of mistakes."

No more tape measures

"The next step in working digitally is measuring buildings digitally," Kevin Boere adds. "Previously, this surveying was done with a tape measure. This took a long time and not everyone used the same method. Instead, now one person walks around the building with two 3D scanners. Those scanners each read 600,000 points per second. Based on that, they create a point cloud, which you can read out on the computer. You then have a three-dimensional image of the building, with all the exact dimensions. With that, you can create all kinds of designs and perform calculations."

Ready for the future

Innovation goes hand in hand with sustainability. IJsselmonde is also firmly committed to that. For example, the fleet is being renewed with eleven fully electric Volkswagens ID.3 1st. Moreover, the construction of a brand new, sustainable building will start soon. Kevin Boere: "With a gasless connection, 320 solar panels and eight charging stations for electric cars, the building will be modern and sustainable. And because the building will be five times larger, it also offers business opportunities for the future. One such possibility is prefabricated facade elements; a development we are following very closely." Bas Boere: "Another important focus for the future is our people. We are committed to attracting young employees, whom we let learn the trade from the older generation. This will also preserve those years of knowledge and experience."
