Platform on new construction, renovation, restoration and transformation
To ensure that the employees of Elektro Internationaal B.V. can work comfortably, RM Glas has fitted the new office building in Woerden with glass interior partitions and fire-resistant glass walls. This preserves optimal natural light, pleasant sightlines, and interaction among employees, while preventing noise pollution. Furthermore, the requirements of the Bbl for preventing fire spread and securing escape routes are fully met.
RM Glas was awarded the contract in Woerden through Van Baaren Aannemers, based on previous successful collaborations. “By choosing RM Glas, the glass interior walls and fire-resistant glass walls could also be contracted out all at once,” explains Harry van Moorsel, director of RM Glas. “A major advantage, because this meant Van Baaren Aannemers dealt with a single point of contact, a single supplier, and a single installation team for all glass walls—both for the offices and the industrial hall.”
In total, RM Glas supplied around forty glass interior partitions for the offices on the ground floor and first floor. “We measured all the glass interior walls on-site, and based on those measurements, we designed and engineered the walls in AutoCAD,” explains Van Moorsel. “Each glass interior wall was then custom-manufactured in our production facility in Nieuwegein. For installation, our installation teams followed the schedule provided by Van Baaren Aannemers.” Special aluminum U-profiles were installed on the floors, ceilings, and at the wall connections, into which the fixed glass walls are secured. “The glass walls connect to an aluminum frame, into which we installed an aluminum door with a glass panel. By using safety and acoustic laminated glass (6.6.2) with a high dB rating, transparency and privacy come together beautifully in this project. Furthermore, employee safety is ensured, as injury is prevented in the unlikely event of glass breakage. A special film keeps any glass shards neatly contained.”
Following the installation of the glass interior partitions, RM Glas supplied the fire-resistant window frames, doors, and glass walls that separate the office spaces of Elektro Internationaal B.V. from the industrial hall. “By choosing certified Jansen frames in combination with fire-resistant glass from AGC Nederland, the 60-minute fire resistance requirement is fully met,” says Van Moorsel. “We also supplied the automatic sliding doors for the entrance. A nice finishing touch to a large-scale project.”

Clear and comprehensive, from the initial sketch through to completion. “In addition to ‘standard’ glass projects, we excel at special projects,” says Van Moorsel. “For example, we recently installed structural glazing in two elevators at Amsterdam Central Station, supplied fire-resistant glass for Amsterdam UMC, and delivered various tempered glass doors, facades, and shower enclosures for a hotel.”
