For over thirty years, Almex Renovatie B.V. has been the go-to company for steel-based renovations of residential homes, commercial buildings, historic landmarks, and publicly accessible buildings. Based in Lijnden, the company works on a wide range of renovation and transformation projects, with a focus on craftsmanship, flexibility, and a practical approach. Thanks to short lines of communication and an experienced team, Almex Renovatie B.V. can quickly respond to clients’ needs and the dynamics of the construction site.
Almex Renovatie B.V.“s expertise is on display in Amsterdam, among other places, where 198 homes on Akbarstraat, Schaapherderstraat, and Wiltzanghlaan are being renovated and made more sustainable. ”We were referred to the project by a contact,“ says Mark Hinderks, director and owner of Almex Renovatie B.V. ”We then approached Van Wijnen to offer our expertise. Moreover, we already had a connection with the intended contractor for this project.” This proactive approach resulted in a multifaceted contract. In addition to the interior steelwork, Almex Renovatie is handling the chromium-6 remediation and additional work, such as the supply of stainless steel components and the modification of espagnolette locks purchased by Van Wijnen.
“We supply and install the interior steelwork for the homes on the ground floor and in the basement,” says Hinderks. “This includes, for example, the steel structures for wall openings, as well as for closing off existing stairwells or creating new ones.”
Another key part of the project is the remediation of the balcony railings, stair railings, landing railings, hoisting beams, and columns beneath the balconies. “In the past, these components were regularly coated with paint containing chromium-6—a toxic and potentially carcinogenic substance that is being remediated at the request of the housing association,” explains Hinderks. “Where possible, we dismantle the railings and sandblast them under controlled conditions, converting the chromium-6 into chromium-3: a stable substance that is not harmful to people or the environment. We then carry out repair work, and the fences are hot-dip galvanized, powder-coated with two layers, and reinstalled.” Fences that cannot be removed, as well as the columns beneath the balconies, are remediated on-site and painted with a wet-applied finish. “This process involves wet sanding only; strict cleaning protocols are followed, and employees wear protective suits.”
Almex Renovatie B.V. combines specialized steelwork with meticulously executed remediation work as part of a renovation project in which safety, sustainability, and efficient execution go hand in hand.
