Many big names are involved in the redevelopment and new construction of Tripolis-Park, including Rollecate. The facade builder approached glass manufacturer AGC to help think about the right glazing for the transparent office building along Amsterdam's busy ring road, which also acts as a sound buffer for the campus behind it. AGC supplied no less than 16,000 m² of solar control glazing Stopray Vision-52 and Stopray Vision-62 for the atrium façade and window frames respectively.
Glass facades, as in the case of the new office building at Tripolis Park, require advanced glass that lets in as much natural light as possible while minimizing the heating of the indoor climate. "In 2018, we were involved in the project by façade builder Rollecate to think together about the optimal glazing for this specific application, where in addition to transparency, acoustics also play an important role," explains Erwin Bruinink, account manager at AGC Nederland Holding B.V. "A whole process preceded the final production and delivery. For example, we first provided a technical data sheet and samples of the solar control glazing. After a site visit, we made larger samples with the selected glazing and finally, at the request of the client and architect, we produced and delivered a 1-to-1 mock-up."
AGC supplies 16,000 sq. ft. of solar control glazing in two versions: Stopray Vision-52 and Stopray Vision-62. These glazings, for use in insulating glass, feature a double silver coating, providing excellent protection against heat and sunlight. "Stopray Vision-62 and Vision-52 are characterized by a solar factor of 33% and 27%, respectively, and allow visible light to pass through, depending on the type, 62% or 52%. These glazings thus keep the heat out in summer and prevent heat loss in winter. Moreover, this glass combines its solar control properties with excellent acoustic insulation and the possibility of creating large window sections," explained Bruinink. "At the request of the architect, a thicker glazing was used in this project to avoid the pillowing effect on the facade. The first deliveries are already dating from 2019 and everything will be delivered by the summer vacations of 2022."
