Climbing facility top mast is integrally developed

The climbing facility with fall protection for maintenance on the steel top mast of the highrise has been integrally developed. All according to Eurosafe Solutions' Safety Circle philosophy, which provides safety scans, engineering, installation, training as well as maintenance. The climbing facility with integrated fall protection was installed on site at the manufacturer of the mast, says Manager Sales Jan Kwanten.

Working safely at height after commissioning a building is the responsibility of the building owner in the Netherlands. To reconcile safety aspects with technical aspects, Eurosafe Solutions works integrally on climbing facilities with fall protection. In this case it is a slender, aesthetically pleasing provision of a safety rail with steps on either side, attached to the 25-meter high telecom mast. The rail is equipped with a runner with blocking device, to which the maintenance engineer can secure himself.

The climbing facility was produced integrally with the mast at manufacturer Voortman Staalbouw, in collaboration with the lead structural engineer. "We started with a Quick Scan on all aspects, from construction to end use. We start from an integral philosophy, where the request is first tested against the Building Code and the Occupational Health and Safety legislation. Then the engineering, installation, user training and maintenance of the climbing facility are handled by Eurosafe Solutions, with periodic inspections after commissioning. We train all users in advance with this system."

Eurosafe Solutions is proud to collaborate with a "small but essential component" on the tallest residential building in the Netherlands, says Kwanten. "From our experience with taller buildings outside Europe, as well as industrial objects such as wind farms, we often work with large contractors and architects. The climbing facilities of this mast are barely visible. In the context of new laws and regulations, we are seeing more and more demand for upfront safety scans and an integrated approach like this."
