Construction starts on 55 energy-neutral apartments in Leidsche Rijn Center

The municipality of Utrecht has high ambitions in the area of sustainability. VORM is giving substance to these ambitions, including the development of Park Avenue. Park Avenue took shape with a clear vision of circularity and materialization. 

Sustainability Ambitions

Thanks to very good insulation and the use of solar panels and individual heat pumps, Park Avenue generates more energy than is required for heating, cooling and ventilation. This makes the residential building energy-neutral. In addition, there is a lot of attention to materials. The residential building will feature a precast façade of blasted and polished concrete with glazed bricks. The precast facade is demountable and can be reused later. Park Avenue will be delivered with a GPR building score of 8.6.

Social cohesion

The Park Avenue development pays close attention to the living environment of its future residents. The focus in the development is on healthy urban living, with a focus on public space, amenities and accessibility. The new residential building will have a balanced mix of target groups. Park Avenue offers a diverse program of owner-occupied housing: from affordable apartments to large luxury penthouses. "We are creating a sustainable living environment for the new residents here," says Willem Romijn, Project Developer at VORM. "Leidsche Rijn Centrum will be a full-fledged new city center in the municipality of Utrecht, where people can live pleasantly, with all amenities close at hand." Tom van Nieuwenhuize, Project Manager at the Municipality of Utrecht spoke recently, "There has been good collaboration and we are very satisfied with the end result. Park Avenue means urban living with a green touch. In fact, green gets a prominent place. For example, between the balconies and at the fixed railings. Trees adorn the terraces at the penthouses, where flora and fauna are given room to live.
