Unique quality kitchens for Bernini Rotterdam

Tieleman Keukens does not shy away from customization. The kitchen specialist proves this, for example, in the Bernini Rotterdam residential building, where fifty apartments for sale are being enriched with a unique Tieleman quality kitchen. In addition to arrangements, front colors, handles, worktops and appliances, the customization is also in the way the kitchens are transported and assembled, says project manager Bas den Besten. "Specialist knowledge, high-quality products and our own assembly service combine to form a total package that meets the highest requirements of the client and residents."

Besides the private market, Tieleman Keukens can also count many contractors and project developers among its regular customers. A good example is Nederlandse Bouw Unie (NBU), on behalf of which Tieleman Keukens designs, delivers and assembles the kitchens for Bernini Rotterdam. "NBU likes to work with regular partners, who stand for the same quality and reliability," says Den Besten. "Tieleman Keukens fits perfectly into this picture. Together we go for quality homes with zero delivery points."

Early involvement

The Bernini project at Prinsenplas started for Tieleman Keukens right at the preliminary stage, when NBU asked to check MIX architecture's basic kitchen design. Did anything need to be adjusted or shifted? "Then we were invited to make a presentation at the start of sales," Den Besten says. "We also gave explanations at the buyers' evening, after which we invited all buyers individually to our showroom in Middelharnis. Here, together with our consultants, they were able to determine the layout, dimensions, front colors, handles, worktops and appliances of their dream kitchen. Here they could literally go in all directions."

Fifty unique kitchens

This has led to a variety of designs, he says. "From very modern to fairly classic, where of course we see fixed trends coming back. Three years ago, when this assignment started, black kitchens in particular were hugely popular. However, we now see that - when measuring and finalizing the kitchens - this color is being abandoned. The black is giving way in several homes to Scandinavian colors, such as white, light blue, light green and light wood tones." Highly sought after are cabinet walls combined with a freestanding sink and kitchen island, Den Besten said. "And the coffee niche also appears in several places. But we also make, for example, a large corner kitchen with an island. It will really be fifty unique kitchens."

Right the first time

At the end of this year, the first kitchens will be assembled. At that time, a challenging period will start, because Bernini Rotterdam is 20 stories high and stands in the water on three sides. "Because transport of the countertops via the internal elevators is not possible, all kitchens will be assembled before delivery," Den Besten said. "After all, we can then use the contractor's transport elevators." Because NBU finishes the building from top to bottom, an intersection is created on the 16th floor. "In order not to interfere with the construction process, we have to deliver the kitchen parts for the 17th and 18th floors in advance. These parts are carefully packed and put away, with the hope that everything will remain in one piece. After all, once the conveyor elevator is gone, we can't take new countertops upstairs. For this reason, we invariably work with our own transportation and our own assembly service." By the second quarter of 2026, the last Tieleman quality kitchens should be completed.
