Custom facade products produced integrally on site

All aluminum parts of the water villas in the Lentse Plas will be produced, delivered and assembled by Thermo Konstrukties BV of Cuijk, a specialist in custom delivery of aluminum facade products. "Every house is different," says director Albert Derks of Thermo Konstrukties BV, which also provides the glazing with its own people and its own equipment.

Aluminum frame work is a specialty, says Derks. "We work with Reynaers' profiles CS77 and CP130-LS, for façade frames and sliding doors respectively. These profiles are thermally broken, which prevents the classic thermal bridge and allows full use of all the advantages of aluminum - including maintenance-free use." The frames do not need to be post-treated or painted. The profiles for the facade frames have the advantage that they can be fully customized. The sliding door profiles can support a sash weight of 400 kg and have such thermal properties that they are also used in passive construction.

Good insulation

The window frames and sliding doors are well insulated, with HR++ glass and in some cases a solar control coating. The profiles for the homes in the Lentse Plas are mounted to the casco in the water, after which Thermo Konstrukties BV hoists in the glazing using a 32-meter high crane. Derks: "Production and assembly are carried out entirely in-house, under SKG and VMRG standards. We offer a high-quality custom product - 'dimmed' if necessary, as in larger projects such as high-rise buildings. This is truly a customized project delivery: every home is different."

Total supplier

Aluminum is durable and has a sleek appearance. Integral manufacturing is required in the context of end quality, Derks continues. "The glazing has a large structural weight. That has to be reconciled, in this case with early involvement in the design phase and the execution logistics of the main contractor. As of this writing (early May; ed.), we have provided 19 of the 27 waterfront homes with our materials. In addition to window and door frames, this includes sliding doors, waterslides and additional cladding. In this way, we are a total supplier of the aluminum components. That's what we like to see."
