E-installation tailored to the project

The main E-installations in Het Dok are provided by E.T.B. Cas Sombroek. The specialist in electrical engineering and ICT from Volendam carried out all installations within the prefab construction system, with the exception of the access control installations, in two of the three towers supported in manning by a subcontractor. "Taking into account the construction volume and corona measures, we completed this project in good cooperation and organization," says project manager Jaap Tol.

The work for the E-installations of an underground high-rise complex (with a plinth of 150 meters in length and 449 apartments) was challenging in terms of time. Tol: "It is still concrete construction, so assembly had to be done manually, except for the center boxes and the lightning installation (included in the prefab production; ed.). Logistically and in terms of planning, the work was fine with the main contractor and the other installers." A superstructure had been realized for the supply of people and materials, so that the precast high-rise could be built virtually scaffold-free. "Also, the construction lighting had already been arranged prior to assembly."

Installation floors

With restrictive measures, that did mean: fewer people on the construction elevator, which meant additional staffing was needed during the execution phase (2020-2022) when it could. E.T.B. Cas Sombroek called in the five of its own people for two of the three high-rise towers, supported by a fellow subcontracted installer. "Except for some adjustment points, we completed the work in April of this year," he said. The E-installer carried out all the regular installations except the access control systems (including lighting, intercom, PV installation and CCTV installation) in both the parking basement, commercial plinth and residential towers. "The center boxes for the apartments were poured along with the prefabricated concrete Bestcon floors, which contain the main piping. Our work dovetailed well with the process," Tol concludes.
