This year in Eindhoven, 260 new-build apartments and four ground-level homes were taken into use right next to the Philips Stadium. Stam + De Koning built the three blocks in phases, with Installatiebedrijf Schoormans guaranteeing the complete W-installation. Groot Hartje in the heart of Eindhoven has now been occupied and is proving to be a real success.
In addition to residential blocks and ground-level housing, the complex consists of intervening urban gardens and a commercial plinth. A special feature of the project is that the existing entrance and exit to the stadium parking garage not only had to be preserved, but also had to be accessible throughout the project. This was also new for Installation Company Schoormans, says work planner Bart Cornuijt. "Because the parking basement had to remain in use, a special construction was used in which we had to install the pipes. That made the work preparation extra important. We had never experienced this before. There was a lot of reinforcement and iron in it. So we couldn't just install pipes wherever we wanted. That had to be well coordinated."
Installation company Schoormans is a family business that originated around 1900. Craftsmanship and entrepreneurship form the solid foundation of the current company, where more than fifty employees work every day. Craftsmanship, quality, flexibility and reliability are of paramount importance. This company and its motivated employees are up to the challenge. Schoormans professionals were at work at Groot Hartje for more than a year. It was a major project. The construction of the W-installation was in good hands, including the plumbing, the installation of the floor heating, the plumbing and the connection of the district heating units. Because it was a large and phased project, extra attention was paid to planning. Cornuijt: "It all went well. I have absolutely nothing to criticize about it."
