Precast concrete elements for large-scale residential construction

As a total supplier of precast concrete elements, Preco is a renowned name in utility and hall construction. Precast concrete solutions are also increasingly being used in large-scale residential construction. A good example of this is De Ananas in Leiden, to which Preco made a substantial contribution with, among other things, just-in-time delivery of stability walls and many hundreds of balcony and gallery slabs.

Walls, columns, stairs, landings, T-docks, hollow-core slabs and balcony and gallery slabs in concrete, it all comes from Preco's state-of-the-art concrete plant in Apeldoorn. "The fact that as a total supplier we can provide everything in-house, i.e. through one point of contact, is of great added value for many clients," says Theo Kool of Preco. "Contractor De Raad Bouw from Katwijk asked us at one point to shine our light on the possibilities in precast concrete for the large-scale residential complex De Ananas in Leiden. From that, a nice cooperation has arisen."

In several phases, Preco is supplying a large number of precast concrete elements for the apartment complex. "For example, we supply the wall elements between the stairwells and elevator cores, as well as a number of stability walls and brackets. The vast majority of precast concrete, however, is in the balcony and gallery slabs, 320 and 80 respectively," Kool continued. "It's a project with quite a long lead time. In May 2020, we received the order to produce and deliver the elements in several phases until the end of this year. By the way, the delivery is done on demand towards the Leiden city center. We are very flexible in that too. All in all, for us a great reference in a segment that is also increasingly recognizing the advantages of building with precast concrete elements. We are ready for it."
