The Terraced Tower, a Provast development, changes shape floor by floor. With staggered floor edges and a construction site in the heart of Rotterdam, this presents a particular challenge. Doka developed a clever formwork concept for this.
In the center of Rotterdam rises The Terraced Tower; a new building characterized by staggered terraces. The new building includes 86 owner-occupied apartments and 258 rental apartments as well as an underground parking garage with 212 spaces. The residential tower is located on the Boompjes, where hoisting movements are not permitted. All construction site logistics must therefore be arranged from the rear of the building. Doka developed a formwork concept for BESIX Nederland that takes into account all the features of the building.
The walls and columns of the substructure of the new building are being built using Doka's Framax formwork system. The Xsafe Plus working platform ensures safe working methods. The Framax system is combined with the Dokaflex floor-slab formwork system, which allows fast, simple and flexible forming of slabs. The Staxo100 support system is relied upon to support the floors and walls. At the elevator core and stairwell, lifting platforms are also being used.
The staggered terraces, cantilevers and staggered floor edges create some headaches during the shell construction. Truss tables combined with Dokaflex, Staxo 100 and Framax offer a clever solution. Truss table formwork is relatively light and is erected quickly and flexibly. The tables support the cantilevers in the standard beams; for the corners of the building, the tables are supplemented by Mini Truss tables. After the concrete is poured and cured, the complete Truss system can be moved with the crane and winch.
Doka Truss is 100 percent compatible with the Staxo100 system and Dokaflex. Due to the restricted crane deployment, Dokaflex and Staxo100 are being used on the non-reachable parts on the front. For safety reasons, Doka's Xclimb60 safety screen will be used on the Boompjes side.
