After Schildersbedrijf Hans van der Plas painted some 40 homes of the Veilingmeester apartment complex in the Havenkwartier in Lisse in 2018, the painting company was also asked to paint 21 apartments and 44 residential houses in this neighborhood.
Last May, the Katwijk painting company began the painting work in the South Holland village, receiving help from paint manufacturer Sikkens. "Commissioned by contractor Ouwehand Bouw Katwijk, we had painted the apartments in Veilingmeester, and from the Ouwehand branch in Gorinchem, we were then commissioned to also paint the 21 apartments and 44 residential houses. We were given a technical description, on the basis of which we had to give a painting advice," Marco van der Plas explains. "With an advisor from Sikkens, I then started discussing which types of paint and varnish were most suitable for which application." Painting company Hans van der Plas has been working with this paint manufacturer since its founding in 1989. "This cooperation has grown so much over the years: together we consult which type of paint is best to use for which application."
In Lisse, the work included painting the facade frames and paneling and the interior staircases. "So it involved paint work inside and outside. That didn't make it special, but the fact that it involved all kinds of houses: from semi-detached to canal houses and apartments. I was very happy with that variety, it made the work more enjoyable for our staff." The work for Schildersbedrijf Hans van der Plas lasted until the end of November 2019.
