Elderly complex the Gooise Warande is being given a new and sustainable look. When Nijhuis Bouw BV found itself without a technical party, the company immediately knew who it needed: Van der Sluis Technische Bedrijven joined the project and is putting all its technical know-how to use to turn the Gooise Warande into a beautiful, sustainable complex anno now.
The Gooise Warande was built in the 1950s with the building codes that existed at the time. Van der Sluis' goal is to run the complex entirely on renewable energy in the future. "Among other things, we use unique heating systems," explains Gerard Valkenburg, business manager at Van der Sluis Utiliteit BV. "For example, we use techniques that allow us to capture heat that normally disappears from a building through ventilation. It is a huge waste that this heat is often lost, when we could easily reuse it."
Van der Sluis is progressive when it comes to sustainability: "When you buy something new, it has to be produced. That process costs energy, of course, and that's a waste. We work circularly and find reuse very important," says Valkenburg. "On the roof of the Gooise Warande was an old ventilation system that we could no longer use. Instead of throwing it away, we took it back to the manufacturer. He was a bit surprised at first," he laughs. "Fortunately, in the end he was very happy with it and was able to convert it and resell it."
With its years of experience, Van der Sluis has become a well-known name in the technical sector. The company is known as a solid family business in which everyone has confidence. "We have many regular customers and often hear years later that our installations are still working well. That's what we do it for!"
