De Kock Betonbouw BV is a young and fresh company specializing in civil and structural concrete construction. "Our mission? To be the best and most reliable concrete builder in the Netherlands," says owner and project manager Martin de Kock. "That's why we tackle projects just a little differently."
The success story of De Kock Betonbouw BV starts in 2002, when, at the age of 19, Leen de Kock founds a construction company for all-round home construction work. Initially Leen focused on building luxury kitchens, bathrooms and annexes, but in 2008 he switched to structural work with the construction of a viewing platform and bird hide in De Biesbosch Nature Park. This beautiful and successful project was followed by various bridges, deck gaps, retaining walls and other small concrete works, and from 2014 the company became the specialist in civil and structural concrete construction projects. In 2018, Martin de Kock also joins the company. This allows brother Leen to focus on the realization, while Martin becomes responsible for designing and calculating the projects up to and including the work preparation. Not only the number of projects, but also their size and complexity continued to increase and now De Kock Betonbouw BV is the structural engineering specialist for residential construction. "We are the address for large-scale structural works. Our specialty is apartment complexes with 100 homes or more, where we work on behalf of and in cooperation with the large national contractors. But we have not forgotten the small(er) works either and are happy to serve them as well, acting as a total shell construction contractor."
Despite the change in direction, the core values of De Kock Betonbouw BV have never been lost. Ambition, honesty and customer-oriented entrepreneurship still run like a thread through the company. "We invariably look for the best solution for every project," De Kock emphasizes. "Does this fit with our working methodology? Or might another solution be more appropriate? We don't hesitate to tell you that either. We value long-term and close customer relationships. In the projects we carry out, we stand firmly alongside the main contractor. We feel responsible for planning, product and project and like to think along in solutions. This may mean speeding up, scaling up or working on different days. By realizing projects with and for regular partners, we become increasingly attuned to each other. This leads to better planning, higher quality and less waste, but also to greater job satisfaction and increased safety."
De Kock Betonbouw BV's working method consists basically of wet concrete walls and precast concrete floors, which are poured on site. "Around this we assemble the precast concrete elements," says De Kock. "If required, we also process the reinforcement. In short: we are responsible for all the 'gray parts' of the building. If desired, we can also build scaffold-free."
"We like to be at the table with the general contractor at an early stage, so that we can think along in the execution method from the calculation," says De Kock. "What is the most smart and efficient method in lead time, quality, security and cost? We work out the complete structural design in 3D. For example, to realize the floors, we work with wide slab floors. On top of this we pour a compression layer. To temporarily support the floors, we use our own support system. We develop this system in 3D for each job. We also perform an extensive clash check, so that it is clear from the front whether the support does not conflict with the installation techniques. Are the floor edges correct? We do the same for our formwork. We plan our work in advance up to job level. If required, we also draw up the crane schedules, take care of the call-off of precast concrete and coordinate the work with all subsidiary contractors. We also monitor the execution planning, thus completely relieving clients of any worries."
A project in which the expertise of De Kock Betonbouw BV is clearly visible is Hyde Park in Hoofddorp. Commissioned by De Vries en Verburg and as a construction team partner, De Kock Betonbouw BV is providing the shell of 233 luxury apartments. "What's special is that in a single pour we are building the monolithic basement floor of 6,000 m2 have realized," says De Kock. "In addition, on our advice, 7-meter-high walls were used so that no vertical seams/floor jumps are visible in the basement. Thus, we are constantly looking for optimizations."
