'Working together from engineering to delivery'

The installation work for DSV's DC in Tholen is being carried out by Van Haren Installations (W) and Op het Veld Elektrotechniek (E), parties that found each other in the realization of DSV Venlo. "A similar building concept, but 'Tholen' is even larger and obviously has the challenges of a completely gasless implementation," say Robert Jans (Van Haren) and Roel de Vlieger (Op het Veld). "Thanks to the good cooperation within the construction team, we are also able to complete this project on schedule according to circumstances."

DSV Tholen will be all-electric/without gas connection. The complete design is an in-house design by Van Haren Installations. The five halls of the 93,000 m² warehouse will be air-conditioned using air source heat pumps (VRF) in combination with a JET system, ensuring an even temperature in the halls. Close cooperation between E and W is thus in order, both in engineering and during implementation. "The heat pumps have a large electrical connection, so cooperation with the electrics is very important," says Robert Jans, project manager at Van Haren Installations. As a rule, a W installer is active on site early on, and that also has its share of problems. "The ground conditions in the wet season created challenges, but the schedule held up well. We have now just started installing the first heat pumps. Many components are prefabricated. The rainwater drains are supplied in sizes of twelve meters long and we have a prefabricated workshop on site for the installation of the sewers."

"The good cooperation in the construction team provides great benefits for both Op het Veld and DSV," said Roel de Vlieger, project manager at Op het Veld Elektrotechniek. "In this way, Op het Veld can use its own design to meet DSV's requirements in a quick and good way. The short lines of communication between the various parties speed up the decision-making and realization of the project. The size and great diversity of electrical engineering disciplines make it interesting and challenging for us. Besides the basic E-installation and lighting, we provide all kinds of related installations, which are designed by us according to BREEAM requirements."

The DC DSV Tholen will be equipped by Op het Veld with, among other things, an intrusion system, a redundantly set up fiber optic network, a full coverage wifi/Dect system, a camera and access control system according to the Tapa security standard and a music/public address system. "All this will be integrated into a user-friendly building management system. All in all, this is a great project, realized through good cooperation between the various parties, from engineering to completion."
