Quality is central to E-installation Plesmanduin

From group box to light point

The national monument Plesmanduin in The Hague is being converted into housing and a hotel. Steegman Elektrotechniek is providing the complete E-installation. It has been working there for a year and expects to complete the project in the summer of 2023.

"Plesmanduin consists of four building sections and we received the order for the fourth building section before the summer. That is the part where the hotel will be," says Marco van Dongen, project manager at Steegman. The company is experienced in large-scale new construction and renovation projects in the utility market and designs, realizes and maintains high-quality electrical data, telecommunications and security installations. It is therefore the perfect partner for the monumental Plesmanduin. "From the distribution board to the light point, we take care of everything. That also includes the kitchen installation and home automation, which is especially applicable to the penthouses," Van Dongen continues. For the buyers' houses, the installers have to take into account the buyers' wishes and there is a part of fire protection and intercom involved. Van Dongen: "We also provide the power supply for the WKO installation and the lightning installation on the roof, the pipeline route for the utilities and at a later stage there will also be charging stations."

Although Steegman has extensive experience with pluggable installation, this way of working was not an option for the homes. After all, there the buyers' wishes have to be taken into account and these are not standard rooms. Whether the hotel will be installed pluggable is being discussed with client Van Wijnen and Impact Vastgoed. It involves a standard installation, with the piping in particular being different than usual. "There are double floors with a cavity between them. That makes it a different way of working than standard. It is great to be able to work on these buildings, because they are beautiful and in a prime location," Van Dongen said.
