For optimal aesthetics and living pleasure

The just-completed State residential tower near Amsterdam's Amstel Station marks the new residential area to be developed along the Weespertrekvaart, including the former Bijlmerbajes. The former derelict industrial site that was once home to the Hells Angels is now emerging as a highly desirable residential area.

"We were involved in the project at an early stage by VORM Bouw, to help think about the technology, planning and execution," says Bram Leijser, project manager at Facédo. "In early 2017, we were awarded the contract and in December that year we assembled the first aluminum window frames. Most of these frames were built into the wooden façade elements at the Vianen location in Montfoort, after which the frames and walls were mounted in the project in one move." The glazing is in neutral-colored, noise-reducing double HR++ insulating glass, he says. "For the homes adjacent to the railroad, we installed additional noise-reducing glazing. The penthouse on the top floor also received additional clear glazing. Reflection is not an issue here, so inside and outside become one."

Maximum (daytime) light
The wooden facade elements with aluminum frames were installed throughout the project, Leijser says. "On the first floor - near the aluminum swing and sliding doors for the commercial and general areas - aluminum curtain walls were chosen, which were installed in the work. At the head of the tower, a curved curtain wall was applied, which provides maximum (daylight) and an optimal view to the outside."

At the head of the tower, an arched curtain wall has been applied, providing maximum (daylight) illumination and an optimal view to the outside.

High quality and durable
Aluminum provides a high-quality appearance and is also very durable, Leijser said. "With that, the material fits perfectly with the rest of the building. From the beginning, our goal was to achieve the required EPC value, and with this facade solution, we succeeded. On average, the aluminum windows and facades have a UWINDOW of < 1.2 W/m2K and are thus highly insulating. Because all windows are also sunproof, heating in summer and annoying glare are prevented. Thus Facédo makes an important contribution to living comfort."
