Scala College is still under construction, but even those who walk into the entrance hall at this stage are immediately struck by the four enormous girders that act as the supports of the ceiling in the impressive hall. The laminated beams are 23 centimeters thick, 1 meter high and 23 to 26 meters long. They draw the atmosphere of the hall.
"It took some doing," confesses Max Noordman, commercial director and major shareholder of Noordman Hout. "For the dimensions, we worked intensively with du Prie. The final adjustment was made by du Prie's workshop manager in Noordman's production hall. Thanks to this cooperation, we achieved this beautiful result."
In addition to the immense girders, Noordman Wood supplies spruce construction lumber, board, drywall and insulation materials. "This project mainly involves standard materials," explains Noordman. "But we also supply special types of wood, which makes us an interesting partner. In our machine shop, we process raw wood into custom-made products according to the customer's wishes. With all these possibilities under one roof, we can easily switch gears and serve our customers quickly. That also suits us. We want to take care of it, especially for regular customers like du Prie."
Meanwhile, the wood deliveries for Scala College continue. Thanks to its large stock, Noordman Hout can usually provide this immediately. At the same time, this wood supplier - now located in Leiden and Oegstgeest - has an enormous amount of expertise, 4,800 m2 of storage space, processing machines and a broad supplier network. Noordman: "We are a family business that has existed for 167 years and in which knowledge has been passed on from generation to generation. The sixth generation is now at the helm. We supply contractors, carpentry factories, furniture makers, interior builders, handymen and ZZP'ers, between Amsterdam, Utrecht, The Hague and Rotterdam and run equally hard for everyone. Wood Must."
