De Jong Glas en Gevel was involved in the Elzendreef project for various activities, from cleaning, grouting and impregnating the facades to installing bat and swallow boxes. The work took a total of about three months.
De Jong Glas en Gevel has been taking care of the complete facade maintenance for contractors, individuals, owners' associations and real estate companies, among others, since 2000. From cleaning and impregnating to repairing joints and cracks. Owner Simon de Jong: "Our team consists of VCA-certified employees. We have a permanent core of ten people and also work with specialized professionals."
For the Elzendreef project, De Jong was approached by regular customer Willems Vastgoedonderhoud. "We do a lot for Willems and are happy with this customer. We take care of the specialized facade work for Willems that they don't do themselves. For this project in Voorburg, we replaced the pointing of the entire flat and cleaned and impregnated the facades. In addition, we built nearly ninety bat and swallow boxes in the masonry."
The installation of these cabinets was not initially planned, but later turned out to be necessary. Because it took quite some time, De Jong employed some extra people. A few bricks were carefully removed from the masonry at the location where the cabinet was to be installed. The cupboard was then attached to the inner leaf of the facade. Finally, the bricks were put back and grouted again. From the outside, only a small groove is then visible.
De Jong: "We also replaced the bolts and nuts of the balustrades, because they were rusted. The project went according to plan, also because we discussed everything well in advance and ordered materials on time. Planning is very important in such large projects."
