Eyecatcher also brings Waterside II to life visually

Waterside II is Van den Pol Elektrotechniek's first introduction to STATON Bouw. "It is a structurally complex building with striking curves and a stepped design," says Timo Jooren, project manager at Van den Pol. "This design also has the necessary impact for our installations."

Expandable charging facilities

At Waterside II, Van den Pol is realizing the complete E-installation plus LED lighting with motion sensors. "From the 400 kVA transformer and main distribution box, we are laying the infrastructure to the WKO installation and seven double charging stations. These charging stations are controlled by an energy management system that optimally distributes the available energy. The capacity of the charging facility takes into account the future expansion of electric charging."

Demarcation

Van den Pol is also installing the fire alarm system in the parking garage. "A striking aspect is the demarcation, a small gap that allows two building sections to move separately from each other. It requires the necessary improvisation to pass this transition with all the pipes."

Out of sight

As a specialist in electrical engineering, Van den Pol brings a building to life. "After all, without electricity it has no function," Jooren states. "Yet our work hardly stands out, because the installations are often out of sight." At Waterside II, the situation is different. "The wooden walls on the galleries will have a slot recess 1.5 meters high in which LED strips will be placed. Here we translate the architect's ideas into a feasible solution in consultation. We do that together with ETK licht. Quite a puzzle, also for the engineering. Because of the considerable cable lengths, voltage loss must be avoided."

Contribution to looks

When completed, the project will provide a photo-worthy image. "It's going to be really cool, because the lighting emphasizes the special shape of this building. And that contribution to the looks of Waterside II also makes our work stand out visually this time around."
