Student housing The Fizz consists of two building sections of 4 and 6 stories. The shell from the first floor up was carried out by Stable Management in the second half of 2022. Niersman's subcontractor is responsible for the engineering, project management and complete realization of the prefabricated shell, including production and assembly.
"Stabiel's all-round activities as a precast hull builder ensured optimal logistics and material selection," says operations manager Silvester Snijders. "This is possible because we do not produce our own. We used hollow-core slabs, solid prestressed floor slabs with large spans that allow us to assemble quickly. But also precast concrete columns, landings and stairwells and components such as the connecting bridge with steel trusses. We were involved early on, which allowed us to optimize the design with respect to manufacturability, cost and lead time."
"That saves time-related construction site costs, as well as failure costs," Snijders continues. "Stabiel's learning ability is great because we work with regular partners and everything is fully worked out and checked in 3D in advance. This construction method leads to minimization of transport movements: there is only a supply flow of prefab elements and we do not get in the way of other parties. For example, the air treatment is not collapsed. Almost no wet concrete is used in this installation concept, which allows the contractor to finish quickly, material can be reused and the building can be more easily transformed in the future."
