"The high demand for affordable housing and the increasing shortage of skilled workers is creating a growing demand for prefabricated homes and housing elements, such as bathrooms," knows Harrie van Leeuwen. For about 15 years, as founder of S-Pod Benelux, he has been involved in prefabricated bathrooms from the French quality brand Altor Industrie and the Scandinavian quality brand Greenbox.
S-Pod Benelux works with and for various stakeholders in construction, such as contractors, developers and housing corporations. Van Leeuwen: "For example, we recently and together with construction company Heijmans and housing corporation Woonbedrijf won a tender for the housing of 735 students on the TU/e campus in Eindhoven. For this project, we are not only supplying the prefab bathrooms, but also the prefab kitchens." A logical step, he says, because bathroom and kitchen together form the "wet corner" of a home. "Here, contractor and housing corporation also benefit from one point of contact for the connections and one party who takes care of the realization and service."
Heijmans and Woonbedrijf very deliberately chose the S-Pod ready-to-use bathroom concept because of its unique advantages in logistics, quality and price, says Van Leeuwen. "With off-site produced elements, construction can be much faster. Moreover, construction logistics become much simpler." S-Pod Benelux's prefabricated solutions are always cost competitive with the traditional bathroom, he emphasizes. "Because production takes place in the factory and under the best climatic and working conditions, quality is also guaranteed (ISO 9001). Not for nothing do we give a ten-year guarantee on the watertightness of the construction. Last-but-not-least, prefab is more sustainable and you can reuse the materials, so it fits perfectly with the circular building concept."
