On Thursday, May 30, the official starting signal sounded for the construction of De Admiraliteit in Vlissingen. The project consists of 23 sustainable single-family houses and 27 sustainable apartments for social rental, which will be founded on Schokindustrie prefabricated foundation beams.
Since 1934, Schokindustrie has been manufacturing and selling precast concrete products such as precast foundation beams, footings, piles and storage floors. The company works closely with Vroom Betonbouw for the assembly of the products. In this way, all the care surrounding the realization of a good foundation is taken out of your hands and a complete foundation is created from one source.
Also for the construction of the single-family houses and apartments of De Admiraliteit, Schokindustrie and Vroom Betonbouw worked actively together. On behalf of contractor Bouwgroep Peters, over 755 meters of precast foundation beams were produced and assembled. "The great advantage of precast foundation beams is that a high construction speed is achieved," says Charlotte van Hellenberg Hubar - De Vreede, Commercial Technical Advisor at Schokindustrie. "Also, precast foundation beams benefit working conditions. Especially in our wet climate, it is nice to get out of the construction pit as quickly as possible. The production of precast foundation beams at our production site is not weather-dependent. Moreover, waste at the construction site is minimal."
At Schokindustrie, precast foundation beams are always produced under constant working and climatic conditions, she emphasizes. "To ensure that all foundation beams fit together perfectly, the positions for the recesses and provisions must be communicated to us in good time. Our engineers review the structural advice, suggesting optimizations if necessary. For example, regarding the pile positions and the dimensions of the beams. All concrete elements are produced and delivered under KOMO and CSC certification."
The precast foundation beams for De Admiraliteit were transported just-in-time and by truck to Vlissingen. "Here, in just two days, Vroom Betonbouw mounted all the beams on the piles, which were manufactured and driven by our sister company Pit Beton," explains Van Hellenberg Hubar - De Vreede. "Our other sister company, Sterk Beton, produced the precast elevator pit for the apartment building, making the foundation of De Admiraliteit a real family project." Both Schokindustrie, Pit Beton and Sterk Beton are part of De Hoop Terneuzen.
