Tight finish for DC Damen Shipyards Group

In Schelluinen stands a new building that stands out not only for its size, but especially for the craftsmanship with which it has been realized. Damen Shipyards Group's brand new distribution center is a fine example of how Jaleco Totaal Projectafbouw puts its expertise in finishing into practice. Project manager Redouan Akrouh gives us a look behind the scenes of this impressive work.

"We once started as a small ceiling contractor in Streefkerk," he says. "Over the years we have grown into a specialist in turnkey finishing, with a beautiful branch in Nieuw-Lekkerland and a warehouse in Streefkerk. Turnkey means that we deliver the premises completely ready to use for the customer." Jaleco provided 1,600 m2 of metal stud walls, 1,000 m2 of suspended ceilings and various carpentry work for the DC in Schelluinen. A big job. Yet according to Akrouh, the biggest challenge was not in the size, but in the planning.

Tight planning, smooth interplay

"What made this project unique is that we were working simultaneously for the landlord and the end user," says Akrouh. "As a result, the bar was high and everything had to be done at a rapid pace. Fortunately, we were once again allowed to work for BMN De Klerk. The familiar cooperation ensured short lines of communication and smooth coordination between all parties." That applied, for example, to the five-meter-high metal stud walls, which were installed without any problems in a short period of time. "Not an easy task, but with a well-tuned and
experienced team it yielded a nice result."

Proud of the result

With a broad smile, Akrouh looks back. "The best moment? That's when you walk through the building and see how everything falls exactly into place. Together we have built something here that we can really be proud of. On to the next one!"
