A great new challenge. After 37 years of Vercoma Communication Systems, of which the last decades as CEO, André Husslage is striking a new path with the best-selling product Beoview IP intercom. From October 2025, Beoview will be marketed in the Netherlands by a new distributor.
The history of Beoview in the Netherlands dates back to 2007, when André Husslage received a request for an IP door video system. At that time, he was still working at Vercoma; an innovative company at the time and eager to get started on this. “But developing an IP door video system on my own had quite a lot to do,” he recalls. “I couldn't imagine that there wouldn't be a ready-made system available. So I started looking and soon found what I was looking for at Beoview in Sydney. I approached the people at Beoview and flew to Sydney to see and experience the system with my own eyes. With the promise to purchase two thousand monitors immediately, the foundation was then laid for a long and close cooperation.”
The introduction of Beoview IP intercom in the Netherlands proved to be a success, according to Husslage. “We were the only ones with such a system.” But there were also challenges, he says, because the system was wired in star the traditional way. Not every building was suitable for that. “Around six years ago, this changed with the introduction of the Beoview iPlusBUS system. Since then, only one UTP cable has been needed, without compromising the many advantages of an IP door video system. For example, unlimited cable length, an unlimited number of connections, great flexibility (scalable, even afterwards) and perfect sound and image quality from start to finish. iPlusBUS turned out to be a golden move, partly due to the combination with a competitively priced touchscreen monitor, which was delivered pre-programmed. This made iPlusBUS lightning fast to install. By now, many leading Dutch installers work with Beoview.”
In recent years, approximately 50,000 Beoview monitors based on the IP bus topology have been installed in the Netherlands. Reason enough to celebrate, you might think, but Vercoma decided that Beoview no longer fitted into its portfolio. Beoview then decided to sell its product range on the Dutch market through another distributor in the future. Husslage, naturally familiar with Beoview, was asked to further roll out the marketing and branding. An opportunity he seized with both hands. “Since Vercoma's announcement, Beoview's R&D department has not been idle,” he says. “That is why Beoview is introducing the even more powerful beoCatBUS® as a successor to the successful iPlusBUS. Beoview IP intercom 2.0, so to speak, with even more technical possibilities, even more connection capacity and an even more beautiful appearance.” As an example, he mentions the new Pro model monitors with a housing of CNC-milled aluminum and guerrilla glass front. “What is also unique is that the Pro models have integrated WiFi as standard, for call-forwarding the call to the free Beoview App on the mobile device. Incidentally, all newly developed products are backwards compatible with current ones.”
The new Beoview distributor will be “up and running” in mid-October. “Also on the agenda is the introduction of the fully digital two-wire system beoTwoBUS®, which is particularly interesting for installations with (re)use of existing two-wire bus cabling,” says Husslage. Also, “beoTwoBUS® offers unlimited cable distances, simple and trouble-free installation and no noise. ” Also, Beoview's R&D department is busy upgrading the current BeoCloud. “With the introduction of modularity and scalability, we are offering new features and services, such as specialized BeoCloud-based communication channels, eliminating the need for a separate wiring infrastructure in door video installations. ”Finally, Beoview plans to expand into other European markets in the near future through cooperation with reputable distributors.
