The level of Dutch elevator construction can be called high due to progressive innovation and regulations. However, "standard" is not always enough. As a specialist in the niche of special elevator systems, Möhringer Liften now has a more than 100-year history. "As an independent part of the Schindler Group, we provide customized solutions with high operational reliability, capacity and/or appearance for demanding clients," operations manager Peter Breman and technical commercial consultant Hans van Thiel tell us.
When people think of elevator specials, they quickly think of panoramic elevators, such as those found in hotels. Breman: "We certainly make those too. However, Möhringer's true distinctiveness lies in the high level of route support and the quality of customization. With car elevators for apartment complexes, for example, or platform elevators in public transport. In those cases, in a consulting role, we often sit at the table with the client and/or architect at an early stage, as in a construction team." The end user is even more important in this niche than in a "typical" delivery, in which there is communication with the contractor as the client. Van Thiel: "For example, we develop and install about 150 platform elevators for and with ProRail. Then it's not only about the architecture of the elevator installation, but also about high reliability c.q. operational safety, vandalism and weather resistance. Möhringer is in this case engineer of the design."
For the Amstelveen line, which is being converted to a regional streetcar with very short out-of-service periods, the Möhringer elevators plus shaft were even produced integrally elsewhere before being installed. Breman: "Customization is in our fibers. Not for nothing are we often called in at the request of the architect to make special wishes of clients possible, of course within the limits of the latest elevator standards. In the construction of hospitals and museums, you constantly see the demand for special elevators with a high level of operational reliability. And inner-city parking facilities with a car elevator instead of a ramp are on the rise. Together we strive for perfection at Möhringer, as a dual brand within the Schindler Group. We are an archetypal Dutch company that is not tied to components from one manufacturer and can therefore meet high expectations in both new construction and maintenance projects. Also with elevators from other manufacturers."
