Skilled construction gatekeepers take care of the implementation

Construction sites are complex environments where a wide range of activities are carried out that require careful coordination. To ensure that projects can be completed safely, on time, and with as little disruption to the surrounding area as possible, skilled construction site security guards and traffic controllers are essential. But Beekman Veiligheid's construction gatekeepers offer more than that: they are involved in the project, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, take operational tasks off the contractor's hands, and act as a permanent point of contact for employees, visitors, and transporters.

During the civil engineering project on Handelskade in Nijmegen (2014), Nick Beekman noticed that clients needed additional services alongside traditional security. “We therefore expanded our range of services to include professional traffic controllers and construction gatekeepers,” he explains. “Our gatekeepers are issued with an official traffic controller ID card as standard and are BHV and VCA certified. This means that the site supervisor does not always have to be physically present.”

Versatile and proactive

The construction gatekeepers register all construction personnel and issue construction passes, receive and instruct visitors, coordinate incoming transport, and open and close the construction site. “They are the central point of contact for everything that does not require construction expertise,” says Beekman. “Our gatekeepers are often present on every project from the start, speak Dutch and English, and are familiar with the project layout, the people present, and the contractual subcontractors.”

Ambitions

The assignments that the people at Beekman Veiligheid are deployed for are not insignificant. Consider, for example, the recently commissioned De Nieuwe Sluis in Terneuzen. Other assignments include the renovation of the Velsertunnel for Rijkswaterstaat, the headquarters of DPG Media, and the Sluishuis in Amsterdam. “These are often projects that run for years. Our goal is to continue to grow,” says Beekman. “We currently provide construction site security guards and traffic controllers to around 22 construction sites every day. That amounts to more than a hundred workers we deploy every year. With our knowledge, we would like to serve more construction sites, without compromising on quality. That is what sets us apart from other companies. Thanks to our support, the contractor can focus on what matters most: the construction itself.”
